Frequently Asked Questions
Sentrex Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy that works closely with your physician and care team to ensure you receive the medication prescribed for you. We coordinate your prescription, process your drug coverage, and dispense your medication.
For many specialty medications, the medication is delivered directly to your physician's clinic for administration rather than to your home. This means you may never visit a Sentrex Pharmacy location. However, we are still the pharmacy responsible for processing your prescription and dispensing your medication.
If you are receiving drug coverage through the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) or Trillium Drug Plan, there is a deductible amount that you are responsible for paying before your coverage kicks in:
If you are under 65 and have applied for public coverage through Trillium, your ODB deductible is the amount you must pay quarterly over each benefit year for your prescription medications. The benefit year runs from August to July. Once your deductible is paid, the ODB program covers your eligible medication costs for the remainder of the quarter.
If you are 65 or older, you are responsible for paying an annual ODB deductible for your prescription medications at the start of each benefit year. The benefit year runs from August to July. Once your deductible is paid, the ODB program covers eligible medication costs according to program rules. Visit the Ontario government website at www.ontario.ca to learn more about the ODB program and deductibles.
If you are enrolled in the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) or Trillium Drug Program, any deductible that is owing must be paid to the pharmacy that dispenses your medication. Sentrex Pharmacy is the pharmacy that dispenses your medication.
If you have not yet met your quarterly Trillium deductible, Sentrex Pharmacy is required to collect the remaining deductible amount when your prescription is filled. Once your deductible has been met, the Ontario Drug Benefit program covers the remaining eligible prescription costs for the rest of the quarter.
If you have already paid all or part of your Trillium deductible at another participating pharmacy in Ontario, you will not be charged again for that same deductible amount. Your Trillium deductible is linked to your OHIP card number and tracked by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Every time a participating pharmacy processes a prescription, the ministry automatically calculates how much of your deductible has already been paid and whether there is any remaining balance.
When Sentrex Pharmacy dispenses your medication, we verify your deductible status through the Ministry of Health using your OHIP card number. If there is any remaining balance, you will only be invoiced for the amount still owing. Rest assured, all participating pharmacies access the same deductible information linked to your OHIP card number, so you will not be charged twice for the same deductible amount.
No. Any fees paid directly to your clinic do not count toward your Ontario Drug Benefit deductible. These fees are separate from your prescription drug coverage and are collected according to your clinic's policies and procedures.
Only eligible prescription costs processed through the Ontario Drug Benefit program are applied toward your deductible.
